Overnight Oatmeal

Overnight OatmealWhen I was being interviewed for the “Change One Small Habit, Change Your Life” article for More Magazine, the author/interviewer Brian Alexander shared this recipe with me.  It’s very versatile and can be tailored to your (and/or your kids) taste.  You can use agave or maple syrup in lieu of the honey; add more or less brown sugar or substitute coconut sugar; and/or add in raisins, slivered almonds, or other dried fruits.  My kids can’t get enough cinnamon so we load up in that department!

Overnight Oatmeal

  • 1 1/2 cup Quick Oats
  • 1/2 cup Old Fashioned Oats
  • 1/4 cup Brown Sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Honey
  • 1-2 teaspoon Cinnamon (depending on your taste)
  • 2 cups Milk

Step 1
Combine all the ingredients in a container with a tight fitting lid.
Step 2
Mix well. Put the cover on and place in the refrigerator over night.
Step 3
Enjoy it all week. I scoop 1 cup out for my 8 year old and a 1/2 cup for my 4 year old. I zap in the microwave for 30 seconds to a minute to to take the chill off.

Jennessa, I have started making this and my husband and son both LOVE it. It is so incredibly easy to make and I love that all it takes in the morning is a little heating in the micro. This recipe rocks, thank you so much!!
